12 CPM Money Makers as Adsense Alternatives

New Media sites that are based on Video, Short messaging, micro-blogging are facing a unique challenge : generating revenue from their web 2.0 applications. Adsense and Commission Junction, leading CPC and CPA networks are unable to help them squeeze out the money they’ve invested. Enter CPM, the only way these sites can make good money. Lets discuss the leading CPM providers available..

CPM alternatives to the traditional CPC model offer these new media sites better monetization than Adsense. These impression based publishing networks have often been around for many years, some are new to the market and thus have less stringent traffic requirements. While the CPM amount that can be earned varies from a few bucks to a couple hundred dollars depending on the niche and number of unique visitors/pageviews per month, for new media publishers this amount is often higher than Adsense revenue.

The following publishers are ordered by their traffic requirements, in parentheses.

AdsDaq (no requirement) - While they only provide CPM ads to specific countries, their ability to display backup ads from any network makes them an easy first choice for somebody looking to test the waters of the CPM market.

Ad Dynamix - (no requirement) - While not quite as intuitive as AdsDaq, their minimal requirements make Ad Dynamix quite approachable even though their customer support is poor.

ValueClick (3,000 pageviews per month) - While their pageview requirements are quite low, ValueClick is known to be picky with the type of site they will approve.

Morning Falls (10,000 pageviews per month) - A relatively low traffic requirement, solid customer service, simple implementation and easy to understand reports make this a good CPM publisher for beginners.

CPX Interactive (10,000 pageviews per month)
- A relatively new face on the advertising scene, CPX Interactive offers good integration and solid reporting. Meeting the traffic requirements is not always good enough, however, as their internal approval process is on the strict side.

Burst Media (20,000 pageviews per month) - Burst Media is an intermediate advertising publisher. Their overly-complicated integration and reports, as well as their poor customer service hold them back from the upper echelon of advertising networks.

Casale Media (10,000 unique visitors per month) - A good intermediate ad publisher, perfect for an established site that has not quite reached A-List status just yet. Casale Media handles larger sites as well, making them a good long-term choice for many sites.

Tribal Fusion (60,000 unique visitors per month) - A solid pay scale, depending on your niche. Tribal Fusion represents hundreds of sites with a wide range of categories.

Brightroll (100,000 video views and 250,000 pageviews per month) - Along with Video Egg, Brightroll is the only other advertising publisher on this list that is truly centered on new media. Their video view requirement automatically puts them in the advanced category.

Adtegrity (500,000 pageviews per month) - While their orange and green color scheme may make you scratch your head, Adtegrity is known for their quality customer service and is quickly becoming a leader in the advertising network field.

Advertising.com (2 million pageviews per month) - One of the heavy hitters of online ad publishing, their high pageview entry point means only well-established sites need apply.

Video Egg (10 million video views per month) - The cream of the new media crop, Video Egg concentrates entirely on advertising in online videos.

Google’s New ‘Wonder Wheel’

Hey

In case you did’nt know, Google has just released a cool new set of tools for Google Search.

Try this.

Visit Google.com and search for say ‘diet’.

Now click on “Show Options” on the results page, see it on the top left side of a light blue bar just below the Google Logo.

Check out a link that says ‘Wonder Wheel’…Whoo hoo! A cool new tool appears and now you dig deeper into any niche you want.

google wonder wheel

This is presently available for US visitors only, I suppose. I tried visiting through the default Google.co.in and it did not show me these options.

For Indian junta, try visiting www.google.us and then try the above mentioned procedure.

Hope you’ll appreciate the discovery ;)

Desi Dal Chawal

I have always been a die-hard fan of Dal Chawal since childhood. Nothing can beat a great Dal Fry and Plain Steamed Rice. Add to that some roasted Papad and Salad with Curd and you can get me to do anything you wanted while eating that.

Since I have never cooked Dal Chawal in my life before, not entirely on my own actually, have assisted Mom many a times in cooking, I was completely unaware on the process, specially without using a Pressure Cooker.

Hence, I put myself to work and started working. I tested samples of Dal and Chawal and tried to cook them on the gas using the small vessel I have.

To my astonishment, it worked very well.

So I put forward a good amount of rice and dal in each vessels and worked my magic.

I know the picture isnt clear, its a bit blurred, but thats the best I could get before putting my hands on it and eating it all up.

Hope it looks tasty. It did taste amazing, specially when one is very very hungry. Comments invited.

Ankur’s New Egg Salad Dish

This should come as no surprise to anyone. I was terribly bored of eating plain boiled egg whites as a part of my weight loss schedule and was really tempted to eat something spicy. Every few moments, thoughts of samosas and kachoris, bhelpuri, dahipuri, pav bhaji etc were flowing into my mind.

The worst thing to teach oneself is to teach the mind to say NO to self. I had to say NO to myself and not step out of my apartment. I even changed from a good tshirt and trackpants to a worn out tshirt and shorts so that I don’t think anymore of stepping out. I did as much as I could to stop my mind from thinking of all the awesome dishes the streets of mumbai have to offer.

Finally I went ahead and pulled out the cold boiled eggs I had boiled in the morning. I usually boil 12 eggs at a time and then store them in the fridge to eat later. That way I save up time and gas boiling everytime. I have learnt that a boiled egg stays great for another 3 days (mine dont last till that time but I have tried and tested shelf life).

After a lot of pursuasion, I decided to make my boiled eggs enough spicy to make up for all the plain food I have been eating in the past week.

Voila!

DSCN3911

I don’t know what to name this dish. The ingredients are…

  1. Five Boiled Egg Whites
  2. Chopped Onions
  3. Chopped Seedless Tomato (tomato seeds have a good amount of carbs I’ve learnt and also too many seeds help in formation of stones)
  4. 1 Mid Size Cucumber
  5. Half Lemon
  6. One Green Chilli
  7. Salt, Pepper, Chat Masala to taste

As you can see, preparation is pretty simple, mix all chopped veggies and add salt, pepper and chat masala.. fill the mix into the egg white cups and you are ready to savor the taste.

Hope that tastes good. ( It did to me, let me know about yours when you try )

Obama & Me

Hey, I was watching THE OBAMA DECEPTION today and while going through various parts of the documentary, I observed a very very weird thing.
There was a scene where Obama was signing a document and the way he wrote / signed was very different than normal people. Firstly, he is left handed and secondly he twisted his wrist in a peculiar manner to sign the document.

obama

It struck me then. Guess who else writes the same way Obama does..?

None other than Yours Truely. [ That’s ME ]

Yes, for those who know me well, must have observed this and definitely would have made a mental note of the way I write. Its weird for most people and many of them are found quite amazed. Teachers, Bankers, Friends…they go ahead and ask me to write more just to see closely how I write and how on this earth can I write so fast. Many friends during college always wondered how I always finished my exam paper earlier than others.

Well, for those who don’t know me or have’nt met me, make sure you observe this when we meet.

I guess this is a clue for me, maybe not. Let me know what you think.

Gaadi, Ghar aur The View…

I know the title sounds stupid…stupid enough for you to read this entire post maybe. But it’s you in the first place who has been asking me to post about the place I live, my car and everything else around it.

By you I mean most of you, my friends, their parents, my parents, relatives, unknown readers of this blog and clients as well.. why wont you, it was me who had been talking about my place since the past 2 months and hadnt shown you even a single glimpse neither invited over anyone ;)

So, to start with.. here is the building where I stay on one of the higher floors…

Next : Here is the car that I like a lot…

DSCN3905-2

Yep, its a Honda City.

I also went ahead and though it would be nice to show everyone the view from my bedroom..

This is the view as I look down from my apartment window.

DSCN3907-2

Next : As I look up straight… I see the building right in front of me…

And the Go-Karting ring ofcourse…

DSCN3908-2

Oh! you cant see the Go-Karting ring ?

Here..let me zoom in a bit..

DSCN3909-2

Hope you like the post.. I know its a tid-bit delayed one but you can express your views in the comments below..

Kheer Ranjha!

I was having a lazy afternoon today… and this is how it all started.

I went to the kitchen to fetch someting to eat.. opened the drawer and saw a pack of basmati rice..

Idea!

Lets make some piping hot Dal Fry and great Basmati rice and salad+chutney.. wonderful.

Another 20mins into searching for dal, hoooof.. there was no dal to be found.

I kept the rice packet back and opened the fridge..

Cucumber, tomato.. some veggies.. and Milk..

Aha Milk…

30 Mins later..

This is what I got out of the Kitchen with..

Copy of DSCN3894

How does it look ?

As I write this.. I did manage to save half of this from Bhavesh who wanted to eat it all…

So if you are hungry now.. i know late nights do give everyone hunger pangs..

Then you are most welcome to drop by ;)

What’s Cooking ?

A lot of people have been asking me this question since the past few days. I dont really know if it reflects on my face that I am hiding something or it just shows up as symbol of not knowing anything about what I am doing to plan to do in the near or later future in my life… but I believe I have nothing cooking at all..

Except.

I recently moved in to a new place at Hiranandani. Being on the 22nd floor has its own ups and downs, you can definitely fall off while leaning from the window just because you have to complete that important call and Vodafone doesnt give you proper network in your apartment. One major upside is the beautiful garden view from my room’s window. I have always been a fan of ‘views’ and I terribly miss the ones early in the morning with beautiful skinny females jogging in the garden and that is when I wish I had an apartment on a lower floor to make the view more enjoyable.

Next, since this place is fully furnished, I got out of the bed one morning and thought.. lets cook.

This is when it literally starts to mean and show that something has been cooking.

Well, I started with Mutter Parathas..

Yes, they were done from scratch.

Here’s the proof..

The ATTA…

DSCN3870

The MUTTER…

The PARATHA being rolled..

Finally, the PARATHA…

DSCN3871

I sent in the pics to a lot of friends and many of them replied by shamelessly inviting themselves over to my place to have a piece of that.

Upcoming : Dosa ;)
