1. PHP is like an open source .NET.
You can’t compare PHP with .NET. .NET is an application framework (an environment for building and executing applications) not a programming language; it’s like comparing a truck to a road. PHP can, however, be compared to languages which run under .NET, such as ASP+ or C# (referred to as “Language.NET” here).
2. .NET is going to be the future of the Internet!
.NET is the future platform for all Microsoft technology — it’s not aimed solely at the Internet. In fact, it’s likely to make its first big appearance on corporate Intranets, with Office.NET and .NET versions of existing Windows NT server software.
3. .NET is the best technology for building a Website.
Both PHP and “Language.NET” are viable solutions for Web building. Whether it’s delivering a dynamic Web page generated from a database, sending an email, or interfacing with a payment gateway, both are perfectly capable. In assessing them as technologies for building your site, the only significant difference is the price.
4. PHP is not compiled, other than when it’s interpreted at runtime, whereas .NET enjoys all the benefits of being compiled.
Here’s news for the .NET crowd — you’ve finally caught up! Microsoft’s use of the word “compiled” in regard to .NET is not what a C++ coder would call “compiled”. Zend, the corporate face of the PHP project, have been doing this for a while now with PHP Accelerator (for a free equivalent, try php-accelerator.co.uk). Unfortunately for Zend, they chose to describe what Accelerator does as “advanced caching” (read more on what Zend means by “caching”).
5. ASP.NET has accountable support. PHP has none.
Apart from the support services offered by Zend (effectively PHP’s creators), NuSphere, ThinkPHP and other corporations also provide support for PHP. You don’t need it, thanks to the ever-expanding PHP community being what it is, but if your boss wants someone credible to blame, there’s more than enough choice!
6. .NET supports multiple languages. PHP doesn’t.
Try Java for PHP or the upcoming Python extension. Obviously this isn’t quite the same as C# or J# but the point needs to be made — PHP is very flexible, and offers useful solutions for the Internet. Don’t expect to find yourself to be writing a successful Website in Cobol.NET — it’s likely each .NET language will eventually “tune in” to a particular type of application development.
7. Language.NET has superior object orientation.
For those who know PHP and its limitations, you may be amused by this .NET FAQ — sound familiar? In fact with PHP 4.3 in the wings, it may be that PHP can claim superior OO support, when you consider that FAQ.
What is significantly different is “Language.NET” will force you into an object oriented approach from the start, while PHP won’t. The Web typically does not require OO — for your average dynamic Website, a few “hacked” scripts are perfectly fine if they meets the site’s requirements. Deliver a live site now, rather than a beautifully abstract piece of code that’s ready one year after it’s needed. PHP’s down-to-earth approach to problem solving is what has made it a success. And when you need OO, it’s there waiting for you.
8. .NET offers superior templating and web development features.
Microsoft has come up with some nice features with .NET that are certainly enticing, like the datagrid, and the templating mechanism. But you could easily reproduce these with a little PHP (try DaDaBIK, for example).
The basic notion of templating is to separate logic from content, so those with artistic skills can make a site that looks good, while developers apply the code “behind the scenes”. How Web designers feel about working with .NET’s templating system remains to be seen. With PHP, rather than being forced into a single approach, you have the choice of numerous Open Source projects (Smarty, Pat Template, etc.).
If you are an affiliate you can make more sales if your affiliate links are cloaked / hidden etc. I collected 5 ways that can be used to hide your affiliate link.
1. HTML: Open Notepad or an html editor software and copy-paste the following:

2. Javascript: You need to copy and paste the link below to your website’s html code. Of course you need to change the red link to your own affiliate link, and the green link to the promoted company’s link. The trick in this link cloaking method is simple, the code below controls what the web browser’s status bar shows to the visitor. The only problem with the Javascript link cloaking method is that the visitor will be sent to the http://www.companyname.com if the visitor turned off Javascript.

3. PHP: The shortest method, open Notepad or an html editor, than copy paste the following code into it and save as .php (like companyname.php). Also don’t forget to change the red link to your affiliate link.

Don’t buy expensive link cloaking software, use these methods for free.
1. Write and submit articles to the article directories.
2. Leave comments on other people’s blogs with a backlink to your site.
3. Answer people’s questions on www.answers.yahoo.com.
4. Post in forums and have a link to your site in your signature.
5. Write a press release and submit it to www.PRWeb.com.
6. Advertise your website in the appropriate category on www.CraigsList.com.
7. Give an unbiased testimonial on a product/service that you have used in exchange for a backlink to your site.
8. Start a blog and submit it to the 100’s of free blog directories.
9. Manually submit your website to the major search engines.
10. Optimize each page of your website for a particular keyword or search phrase.
11. Add a link in your email signature to your website. It’s a free and easy way to get a little more traffic.
12. Make a custom 404 error page for your website redirecting people to your home page.
13. Use PPC search engine advertising.
14. Add a “bookmark this site” link to your webpages.
15. Have a tell-a-friend form on your site.
16. Send articles to ezine publishers that includes a link to your website.
17. Hold a crazy content and make it go viral.
18. Give away a freebie (ebook, report, e-course) to keep people coming back to your site.
19. Add an RSS feed to your blog.
20. Submit your site to any related niche directories on the net.
21. Participate in a banner or link exchange program.
22. Create a software program and give it away for free.
23. Purchase the misspellings or variations of your domain name, or those of your competitors.
24. Buy a domain name related to your niche that is already receiving traffic and forward it to your site.
25. Pass out business cards with your domain on them everywhere you go.
26. Start and affiliate program and let your affiliates send you visitors.
27. Start a page on social bookmarking sites such as www.MySpace.com.
28. Submit a viral video to www.YouTube.com
29. Conduct and publish surveys to your website.
30. Find joint venture partners that will send you traffic.
31. Start your own newsletter or ezine.
32. Use a autoresponder or email campaign to keep people coming back to your site.
33. Purchase ads on other sites.
34. Send a free copy of your product to other site owners in exchange for a product review.
35. Sell or place classified ads on www.eBay.com with a link to your site.
36. Post free classified ads on any of the sites that allow them with a link to your site.
37. Exchange reciprocal links with other related websites.
38. Network with other people at seminars or other live events.
39. Purchase advertising in popular newsletters or ezines.
40. Advertise on other product’s “thank you” pages.
41. Create a free ebook and list in on the “free ebook” sites.
42. Buy and use a memorable domain name.
43. Do something controversial.
44. Create an Amazon profile and submit reviews for books and other products that you have read.
45. Start a lens on www.Squidoo.com.
46. Use a traffic exchange (low quality traffic, but can sometimes be worthwhile).
47. Get referrals from similar but non-competing sites.
48. Create and sell a product with resell or giveaway rights and include a link to your site in it o others pass it around for you.
49. Email your list. If you don’t have one, get one.
50. Buy a pair of sandals; get your website engraved on the bottom and walk on the beach, stomp in the mud or play in the snow.
51. Create a FaceBook app and market your site using it.
52. Try to use targetted keyphrases and advertise your site using Adwords, you will spend very little this way.
53. Run a contest and use similar Link Baiting techniques to generates lots of backlinks to your site and also get it popular.
54. Send out regular updates using FeedBurner / Feedblitz.
55. Try to build up a discussion place on your website, be it comments or a Forum like place.

It is really hard to figure out how you should price your design services at a fair and affordable price, but the resulting price has to be influenced by various different factors. Many a times, its just whatever the designer wishes to price it as and not a very detailed thought about price. I was recently asked to quote on a huge project, to which I really did not know many factors that should be taken care of while pricing. After a ton of research work, I finally found the following points to be of great importance while pricing your design services…
1. The Time It Will Take
This is a very obvious factor. You have to price your work depending on the time it will take from you to complete it, right from gathering the user requirements to finishing the entire project. Many designers have an hourly rate that they attempt to get with each of their projects. Whether you have a set hourly rate or not, you need to consider how much time you expect a project to take and how much you would like to earn for that amount of time.
2. Your Availability
Are you currently overloaded with work? If so, why not price a project a bit higher than you normally would? If the potential customer is willing to pay the price you will be well-compensated for your efforts. If they’re not interested in that price, you’re still busy with your other work so it is no big loss.
On the other hand, if you are starving for work, why not consider making a small price cut if it will help you to get some work? Of course you’ll still want to be sure that you’re getting enough to make it worth your time.
3. Opportunity Cost
If you don’t take the job, what else could you be doing with your time? Don’t only consider how much you will be making for a particular job. You need to also understand what your other options would be. Maybe you know you can only charge X dollars per hour for a specific type of service, but for doing something different you can earn considerably more.
4. Potential for Future Work
Sometimes you make get the opportunity to take a job that has potential to lead to ongoing work that you would like to have. In this case there is more incentive for you to give a very competitive price. Sometimes getting your foot in the door by doing a small amount of work for less than you would like will lead to bigger and better things.
5. History with a Client
Have you worked for this particular client before? If so, what was your experience? Some clients you would love to keep and you may be willing to be more flexible with your pricing. Others you will be anxious to get rid of and you may want to inflate your prices a bit.
6. Quality of Your Work
How does the level of your work compare to other designers? Obviously your clients will have a number of different options when choosing a designer. Your prices should reflect the quality of your work in comparison with your competition. Try not to overprice yourself, and certainly don’t under price yourself.
7. Costs Involved for You
Most jobs will typically only involve your time, but some may require additional costs for software, photos, scripts, etc. Always try to find any possible expenses that could arise when you are pricing a job and make an effort to pass these expenses on to the customer.
8. Opportunity for Growth
Some jobs will present challenges and opportunities for you to improve your skills and your experience. If you are interested in learning a new aspect of design, you may want to seek out projects that will provide those opportunities and price your services to be very competitive. Of course, if the job is a learning experience for you, you should communicate this with the client so they understand the situation and so they do not assume that you are an expert in this area.
9. Experience
In comparison with your competition, what is your experience? Experienced designers are usually able to charge considerably more because of their years of experience and the improved skills that have been developed as a result.
On the other hand, do you have a lack of experience that you would like to improve? If so, consider pricing your services on the low end.
10. Timeline
Will you be under a sever time crunch? If so, you should be able to charge more due to the increased pressure of the time demand. Those who expect a quick turnaround and need something right away will often be willing to pay more for the work.
11. Skills Needed for the Project
Basic HTML and CSS coding skills will not demand as much money as more advanced coding skills used in development of dynamic websites. Additionally, advanced graphic design skills can also warrant a higher price. Take into consideration the skills that are needed to complete the project and how much those skills are worth.
12. Is Outsourcing Needed?
Some projects and designers will require outsourcing part of the work to get the job done. If this is the case you need to know how much you will have to pay someone else. Outsourcing can be one more headache in the pricing decision.
What Other Factors Do You Use for Pricing Your Services?

As simple as it looks like, a blog is definitely one of the most popular medium that enables publishers to start earning money with Adsense. There are a few requirements though.. a nice, attractive and possibly viral enough, domain name and a good web hosting service. Content is the very next thing that you need to have, but again, the most important of it all. After that, driving traffic to your blog is also a very difficult part. 1. Post messages and leave signature on related forums/ groups
Just like what I normally do in Adsense Group. Leaving the URL of your blog as the signature is quite effective in driving traffic to your site. All you have to do is find some forums or groups that are related to your area of interest. Just like my blog, who is talking about making money with Adsense, I choose the Adsense Help Group as my primary forum to leave messages. Of course, if you have time, you can find out more related forums by searching through various Search Engines.
Go to a few that you find informative and read around a bit. Join a couple of the forums, that you find interesting and are of value to you, as a member. However, one thing to remind you is that you should check out two things before joining any forum after doing searching.
- A forum must be indexed by the search engines, particularly by Google. If it’s indexed, your posts will appear as backlinks to your site, raising your blog’s PR (PageRank) in the search engines. You can gain search engine traffic as a result.
- A forum must also permit the use of a signature file. By creating a signature, that includes your blog URL, you have a link that brings forum members back to your blog.
In your member profile, be sure to use a “signature” that includes a link back to your blog. Make certain the signature appears on all of your postings. Without that link, no new traffic can find you.
2. Tell everyone you know about your blog
This offline networking technique will bring a fresh batch of visitors to your blog. As you become more comfortable with talking to people about your blog, your traffic numbers will take a jump. Many of them will surf to your blog, to read what you have to say.
But remember, only ask your friend or relative to visit your blog, but do not mention or request them to click the ads for you. Encouragement or providing incentives to click your ads is highly prohibited under Google’s TOS. Bear that in mind!
3. Put your links on your e-mails
When you send out any e-mails, either personal or business, be sure to add a link to your blog to each and every one of them.
With a quick and easy to click hot link back to your blog, many of your e-mail recipients will drop by for a look. While not everyone will check out your blogging activities, a few will. Another source of new visitors has been added, with minimum effort.
4. Social BookMarking
Social Bookmarking has really pickup up in the last few years and now its kinda driving a third of my site’s traffic. So, below is a list of social bookmarking sites that you can submit your article / blog posts to and just wait for the traffic to flow in.

AllMyFavorites.net - Create an organized page for your bookmarks that you can share with friends and family, access from any computer.
Backflip.com - Check out the most popular links each day, set “The Daily Routine” as your homepage so you can visit your must stop sites each day with ease.
BibSonomy.com - Public & private bookmarks, tag cloud, related tags, duplicate detection with the chance to merge their info.
BlinkPro.com - Dynamic folders, bookmark all links of a page plus all the usual features.
BlogMarks.net - Save your bookmarks, tag them with keywords for easy searching amongst your list, share with others.
Bluedot.us - Tabbed user page showing a network of friends, bookmarks, and related tags. Allows you to import contacts from all the major mail services such as GMail and Yahoo.
BmAccess.net - Bookmark a site, add tags, when you look up a tag, you get the names and a little thumbnail image of the site along with it.
BuddyMarks.com - Store your bookmarks online, share some or all of them, discover new sites to visit by searching the public bookmark area.

5. SEO / Search Engine Ranking
This is one of the most time consuming processes involving proper optimisation of your blog posts with good titles, meta tags and a few tricks to help the search spiders rank your blog better. it usually takes about 4-6 months to naturally rank for a few keywords and start getting a good amount of traffic. In about 3 months, usually a good blog started getting 100+ unique visitors a day.
These are a few free and quickest methods are, after trial, quite effective to drive traffic to a new blog. You should make a try on them now and start earning big bucks through Adsense!

I have been away from blogging since a long time now ( I really do not remember when was I exactly into blogging ). Below are some techniques which may reduce your Google ranking or even ban you from its index. You should avoid them if possible.
Bad navigation
Your website must have clean and simple navigation. This way you ensure that Googlebot will be able to crawl your entire site. Navigation links should be located near the top of the pages since this makes it easy for your visitors and Googlebot to navigate through your site.
Best bet for navigation is use of text links, as this increases word count and keyword density, as well as giving description of destination page to Googlebot. Googlebot is also able to follow image links and from recently Flash navigation links. If you use image links make sure you add some description in “alt” attribute of image tag to describe your link.
JavaScript links
Googlebot is not able (currently) to follow JavaScript links. People often use these type of links for fancy navigation. If you use them just make sure you have alternative navigation using HTML links.
Hidden text
Googlebot and other robots learned to recognize this method several years ago. So if you don’t want to be identified as spammer and banned from SERP’s, don’t use this method.

Number of incoming links to certain page has direct effect to Google PageRank (PR). However, if those are hidden that may produce similar results as with hidden text.
Cloaking
Cloaking is a search engine optimization method where you serve highly optimized page version to robots and a regular page to your visitors. Official Google policy is that cloaked pages will not be allowed in their index. However, there are many websites that use cloaking with great success. So if you like to risk getting banned from SERP’s you may use this method, just make sure you do it properlyJ
Guest book spamming and FFA pages
Adding your link to hundreds of guest books will not help you with your PR, since it appears that Google is able to detect them and ignores outgoing links completely. This way you’ll save yourself many hours of useless work.
When PR was initially introduced, many SEO companies were offering to “submit your site to zillion FFA pages for free” and hopefully increase your PR. I don’t remember that this used to work at time and it certainly doesn’t work now. If you find any of these, avoid them.
Sessions
Google is not able to accept session cookies and will try avoiding URL based sessions. Also, you should use fewer parameters in you dynamic URLs and avoid use “id” parameter as Googlebot may think that is session ID.
